The shrink tube is arguably the single most used component of carp fishing rigs. Its biggest advantage is that it can help you tweak or even entirely change the mechanics of your rig. For instance, you can change a simple straight-shank hook into a highly aggressive curve by creating a line-aligner effect. Alternatively you can also change an otherwise bottom-bait presentation into a Withy Pool rig, perfect for pop-up fishing.

Any good quality shrink tube should have a contraction rapport of 2:1 to make sure it really sticks to the eye of the hook. In addition, it must also be slightly elastic, but rigid enough to continue keeping its shape after being steamed.
