Dips

Conventionally, dips are used to customize boilies and to add a few extra layers of flavor and attraction. Even the simples boilies gains significantly from the use a good dip. This has been observed from the very earliest days of modern angling - a hookbait that sticks out through the use of a dip will get you more fish. In these early days, dips were mostly high attract liquids, into which the baits were very briefly soaked and thus caught an intense, but transitory, flavor. Were baits dipped for longer in such liquids they would have taken on too much flavor and thus alerted rather than attracted carp. In more recent times, with the rising popularity of nutritional liquids, dips too have changed and started to move away from strong flavors towards more natural attractiveness. In addition, rather than superficial soaking, dips today allow for a longer contact, which in fact only increases the quality and attractiveness of your bait. And it's not just hookbaits either.
