Nutritional liquid foods are among our favourite additives because every single Select Baits recipe contains a rich liquid component designed to ensure excellent solubility and maximum underwater attraction. Quite paradoxically, despite their name, liquid foods are first and foremost attraction elements rather than purely nutritional additives. Their label has often misled anglers into believing they are only meant for feeding fish rather than attracting them. In reality, attraction is exactly what these liquids are designed to achieve.

Before offering a nutritionally rich food source, liquid foods work by instantly pulling fish into the area. What sets them apart from conventional liquid attractants is their ability to release an incredibly natural and long-lasting chemical signal underwater. Many liquid foods are derived from industries such as aquaculture and animal nutrition, where they are specifically used to stimulate feeding responses, improve digestion and encourage appetite. Rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals, organic acids and natural extracts, these liquids create a powerful feeding trigger that carp instinctively recognize as a safe and highly nutritional food source.

Another major advantage of liquid foods is their versatility. They can be used with virtually any type of bait including boilies, pellets, particles, stick mixes, spod mixes and groundbaits. However, they are especially renowned for their use in boilie production, where they play a crucial role in creating truly effective baits. At Select Baits, we have consistently found that combining multiple liquid foods delivers superior results compared to relying on a single liquid alone, even when the total liquid volume remains unchanged. Each liquid contributes its own specific role — whether it is improving solubility, enhancing palatability, stimulating feeding behaviour or increasing long-term attraction.

For most of our mixes, we recommend using approximately 100ml of liquid food per kilogram of base mix. For hookbaits and high-attract presentations, even higher levels can be used successfully.
