1. Data Controller

By using www.selectbaits.com, creating a user account or completing any form available on the site, the user confirms having read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. What Data We Collect and Why
We collect personal data through the following channels:
2.1 User account
When creating an account on www.selectbaits.com we collect: first and last name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, password (stored in encrypted form).
Purpose: Managing the account, processing orders, communicating with the user regarding their orders.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a sales contract.
Retention: For the duration of the account and 3 years after the last transaction, subject to statutory archiving obligations.
The user is solely responsible for the accuracy of the data registered in their account and for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials. Select Baits accepts no liability for the consequences of unauthorised access to a user's account resulting from the disclosure of login credentials by the user.
2.2 Contact form
Through the contact form we collect: name, email address, phone number (optional) and the content of the message.
Purpose: Responding to enquiries, questions or complaints submitted by users.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest of the controller in responding to incoming requests.
Retention: Maximum 12 months from the date the message was submitted.
2.3 Newsletter and commercial communications
Through the newsletter subscription form we collect the user's email address and, optionally, their name.
Purpose: Sending newsletters, commercial offers and product updates from Select Baits.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — explicit consent of the user, expressed by ticking the consent checkbox.
Retention: Until withdrawal of consent (unsubscription). Users may unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email received or by emailing contact@selectbaits.com.
Consent to receive newsletters is independent of any other contractual relationship. Unsubscribing does not affect active orders or the user account.
2.4 Online orders
When an order is placed we collect: first and last name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, order history.
Purpose: Processing orders, issuing fiscal documents, delivering products, managing returns.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of contract; Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR — compliance with legal fiscal and accounting obligations.
Retention: Fiscal documents are retained for 10 years in accordance with Romanian tax law. Order data is retained for 3 years after the last transaction.
3. Who We Share Data With
Your data is not sold and is not shared for commercial purposes with third parties. It may be accessed, on a strictly limited basis, by:
Internal Select Baits staff involved in relevant activities (sales, logistics, customer relations)
Courier service providers — solely the data necessary for delivery (name, address, phone number)
Online payment service providers — to the extent necessary for processing the payment
Newsman email marketing platform — solely for managing newsletter lists, on the basis of a Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
Hosting and IT service providers — ensuring the technical infrastructure of the site
Public authorities — solely where required by law (e.g. tax authorities, courts)
We do not transfer data to countries outside the European Union without ensuring the guarantees required under GDPR.
4. Your Rights
Under GDPR, you are entitled to the following rights, which you may exercise at any time, free of charge, by emailing contact@selectbaits.com:
Right of access — to find out what data we hold about you
Right to rectification — to request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
Right to erasure — to request the deletion of your data, within the limits of our legal obligations
Right to restriction of processing — to request the limitation of processing under certain conditions
Right to data portability — to receive the data you have provided in a structured, machine-readable format
Right to object — to object to processing for direct marketing purposes
Right to withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP): www.dataprotection.ro.
Select Baits will respond to any request within a maximum of 30 calendar days.
5. Data Security
Select Baits applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS encryption, restricted access to data and the use of third-party platforms whose security policies are assessed prior to engagement.
Select Baits will never request banking details, passwords or confidential information from users via phone or email. Should the user disclose such information to third parties, full responsibility lies with the user.
Select Baits reserves the right to suspend or remove a user account at any time in cases of abusive use of the services or provision of false information, with or without prior notice to the user.
